Meteorology and climate science in an uncertain world - Let's learn together!

It is becoming increasingly clear in my perspective that 'climate change' and climate scientists are increasing been seen in a sceptical light. The recent recession has increasing focused attention more on what can be done to increase economic growth from recession/stagnation, particularly in western economies, to finding ways to stimulate job creating and increase living standards.

At the same time the climate change debate has been seen in an increasingly sceptical light from the general public likely due to changing perceptions of economic priorities. Policies and decisions from governments to corporate business have increasingly put the debate either on the back burner or worse, putting it in direct conflict with policies to alleviate and mitigate future climate change.

Indeed this short sighted approach can have dire consequences for that which certain climate sceptics purport to be saving, namely, living standards and future economic growth and stability. During recent times there is also another dangerous perception being touted by certain disinformation sources suggesting that 'climate change' is some sort of conspiracy or that climate scientists are making disingenuous claims based on their sciences to get continued sources of funding. From my own perspective and indeed many of my colleagues this could not be further from the truth indeed in comparative terms to other professions with a similar time frame required to gain the qualifications needed to pursue academic science (and many professions less so) are considerably better funded and paid. Self interest in a general sense comes more from the satisfaction that we can try and make a difference to this world and make it better for our children as well as a prosperous and stable future for all human kind whom which all share this world.

It is my hope that we can all come together, discuss the fascinating science and learn together and make better informed decisions that will shape our futures. For this reason I encourage that as much discourse between specialists and non-specialists alike on this blog. So please do feel free to ask anything however unimportant you may think it is about any subject.
